Civil Designer Introductory User Guide Course


The Civil Designer Introductory User Guide Course is designed to get you started with the software. It consists of introductory videos and data-set resource files for the differenct topics. Simply register (send us your name and email) so that we can keep you up to date with other useful resources, and then following the introductory videos in your copy of Civil Designer. If you do not own a license for the latest version of Civil Designer you can download the Student Edition at no cost.

This User Guide course is based on the User Guide pdf document provided with your software installation and not all sections are in video format. Some of the videos makes reference to this pdf document.


1. DTM BASICS

  • Start a new project
  • Import ASCII data
  • Generate a model using the triangulation option
  • Generate a model using the Intelli-Line capabilities
  • Display a site drawing as a background

  •   Follow the tutorial using Civil Designer to make sure you understand the DTM Basics.


    2. TERRACE DESIGN

  • Place a terrace on the ground model
  • Calculate the terrace volumes
  • Produce a drawing which shows the terrace including cut and fill bank lines

    3. URBAN ROAD DESIGN

    4. SEWER NETWORK DESIGN

  • Add a sewer data file to the project or create a new sewer data file
  • Import coordinate data containing node names & coordinates from an ASCII file
  • Generate a manhole layout plan from the coordinate data
  • Connect the nodes by means of links
  • Edit and set the link parameters
  • Edit the link tables
  • Input inflow data
  • Run the analysis and view the results
  • Generate and view long sections
  • Calculate quantities according to SABS 1200
  • Set erf connection defaults and types
  • Graphically add erf connections
  • Run the erf connection analysis and view the results
  • Change the erf connection display settings
  • View the erf connections on the graphical vertical alignment
  • Generate a layout drawing with manhole names and a link schedule
  •   You should now be able to import an existing network from a .csv file, analyse and review the results.

    5. STORM NETWORK DESIGN (ILLUDAS)

    6. WATER NETWORK DESIGN
