CIVIL DESIGNER and intelligent BIM workflow

Solid Structures When Solid Structures Consulting Engineers (UK) developed their BIM workflow strategy and execution plans, they wanted to make sure that collaborative design processes and intelligent BIM compliant tools were adopted from the word go.

Intelligent BIM processes require the exchange of more than just solid faces, 3D data and other geometric information. Consistent collaboration requires the transfer of data rich objects with associated quantities and properties. Where insufficient data is exchanged, a design contribution loses its technical value.

Solid Structures (UK) Ltd chose Nemetschek Allplan and CIVIL DESIGNER Software packages across their civil infrastructure and structural design processes and selected Allplan Bimplus as their online BIM platform to manage model data, documents and tasks centrally over a complete project lifecycle. The system allows a BIM coordinator to assign specific tasks to project members during the design phases in accordance with the approved project execution plan. The coordinator is also able to handle technical design challenges that arise by allocating software and other resources to the participating engineers and designers.

Solebri BIM Viewer

CIVIL DESIGNER's IFC file export functionality allows all the geometric data in a project to be exported as one or more IFC files. The IFC files contain 3D watertight 'solid' model geometry representations of the project's objects, with various IFC properties and quantities attached to the 3D objects.
