Huge increase in DTM points import speed with build 4 of Civil Designer 2013!

DOWNLOAD THIS LATEST BUILD TO INCREASE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY
This morning our Key Account Manager, Charles Scott, walks into my office with a big smile on his face as he shows me the time of 1 min 33 seconds displayed on his stopwatch.

While we have completed tests on the new build and have already demonstrated that it is much faster on our programmers' powerful computers, I would like to include Charles's test as this was done on a standard, average spec laptop.

Charles decided to test the new DTM point input speed of Build 4, versus the previous Build 3 of our 2013 version with the following result:

TEST 1 – Multiple files (7 files with average size of 22MB)
DTM POINTS IMPORTED TIME TAKEN TO IMPORT
Civil Designer - Build 3 3 348 327 11 min 54 sec
Civil Designer - Build 4 3 348 327 1 min 33 sec

TEST 2 – Single file import
DTM POINTS IMPORTED TIME TAKEN TO IMPORT
Civil Designer - Build 3 1 435 240 1 min 23 sec
Civil Designer - Build 4 1 435 240 29 sec

South African Rand continues to weaken

CAUSING OUR SOFTWARE TO BE HIGHLY COMPETITIVELY PRICED EVEN THOUGH WE ARE NUMBER 1
CIVIL DESIGNER is entering a very promising period in market growth and software sales. We are hitting our quarterly targets in just 2 months instead of 3, and we have firmly exited any recession period of slow growth and are starting to boom!

Not only are we the number 1 solution for civil engineering infrastructure software, but due to exchange rates, our software is comparatively very well priced too! Our local clients benefit from not having to pay higher prices due the weakening Rand, and our international clients are having a field day at being able to buy our software at a cheaper rate due to the Rand’s value... it's a win win situation for all!

Civil Designer 2014 beta version

BETA VERSION TO BE LAUNCHED AT THE END OF THE MONTH
The 2014 version will come with the fastest intersection design in the industry and includes roundabouts, making designing for urban streets far easier! Official release date will be at the end of this year, but we will already be handing out the Beta copy to some of our key clients that would like to benefit from the new functionality.

In line with global software standards, we will be dropping support for Windows XP and our 2014 version will only work on a 64 bit operating system.

Make sure you keep your drivers up-to-date

VIDEO / PRINTER AND OTHER DRIVERS
Please make sure that you keep your windows drivers up-to-date for your computer and external devices. Our software is dependent on them working correctly. Every now and then we get a customer calling into our support centre thinking our software is at fault, meanwhile they are using old out-of-date windows drivers.

This link (from Microsoft) should help those of you that may be using old drivers for your specific computer.

Civil Designer 6.5 no longer supported

AFTER 6 YEARS ITS ABOUT TIME
Unfortunately the time has come that Civil Designer 6.5 and AllyCAD 3.6 will no longer be supported by Knowledge Base. Most other software vendors retire your software after just 3 years and stop supporting it. We have supported these version for nearly 6 years! The software will still obviously work but we will not accept support calls and no more improvements / bug fixes will be issued for these versions. If you are still using these old versions, now is the time to upgrade to the latest 2013 version.

We look forward to sharing more news, information and software tips with you in our next quarterly newsletter. For any feedback, enquiries or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.
