Improvement of the N7, Section 1 - AECOM

N7 re-alignment

This project was commended for technical excellence in the recent SAICE-SAFCEC 2015 Awards. It involved upgrading Section 1 of the N7 road network between the Melkbos intersection (km 18.0) and the Atlantis intersection (km 25.5) just north of Cape Town to freeway standards.

The project became a priority due to safety concerns on this busy route. It included upgrading the existing single carriageway to a dual carriageway and closing off the existing minor road and property accesses to the N7 and rerouting the traffic onto adjacent existing and new roads.

Carlos Dos Santos (Pr Tech Eng) of AECOM explained that Civil Designer's advanced functionality enabled an efficient design process throughout the project.

Efficient & Effective Design Steps

When Civil Designer is put to the test and when it's advantages are thoroughly investigated, we are proud to see consulting engineering professionals affirm it as their preferred infrastructure design platform.

This is because Civil Designer allows the engineer to design from the ground up with logical and efficient steps while remaining fully in control of the design process and final outcome. At the same time, reliable support and training services further bolster their decision.

Civil Designer Design Steps When Gibb Integrated Infrastructure Group (IIG) completed a comprehensive evaluation of all the major civil infrastructure design software packages available worldwide, Civil Designer was selected as their preferred software package for nationwide implementation. Have a look at this outline of the efficient design steps involved in typical design scenarios which contributed towards their decision in favour of Civil Designer.

2016 Training - Equip Yourself

Proficiency with Civil Designer and familiarity with the latest features and functionality allows you to tackle your infrastructure design project efficiently and effectively. The Civil Designer accredited courses provide the grounding you need to optimise your work and meet the deadlines you face.

If you would like to book CPD accredited training in any of the Civil Designer modules, please click through to our training schedules or contact us for more details.

RECENT TRAINING DELEGATE FEEDBACK

It is easy to understand and apply the software. Our current projects include the construction of a pavilion and services for the Saselamani sports facility.
Kurisani Mbhalati - EVN Africa (Pty) Ltd, Polokwane
The training has enabled me to design quickly. We are currently busy with a berth deepening project and we are making use of the Sewer, Storm, Roads and Water modules.
Lungile Mkhize - Transnet Ltd t/a Protekon, Durban
The software is user friendly and extremely fast. We are currently using it for the Kwadabeka bus route phase 2 involving road, mass earthworks, terrace block walls and stormwater drainage.
Lakash Singh - Ethekwini Water Services

Civil Designer 8
3D rendering in Civil Designer
Thank you to EFG Engineers (Pty) Ltd for providing the above drawing.

The success of the 2015 version and the positive feedback it has received has led us to invest significant development resources into its optimisation.

The upcoming Civil Designer 8 will handle even larger lidar datasets and allow the manipulation of large CAD drawings without lagging. Civil Designer's CAD module is already very powerful and fully dwg compatible (the screenshot above is taken from a design using the current 2015 version). In Civil Designer 8 we are enhancing its 3D rendering capabilities even further to ensure your authentic design is complemented with a strong visual impact.

The new version will be released in March. Contact us if you need to bring your subscription up to date so that you can benefit from the latest version as soon as it is released.
