Software for Engineering Minds

The latest SAICE Civil Engineering publication includes an article on Civil Designer's success in meeting the software requirements of the civil engineering professional. "Many infrastructure design programs are in fact just CAD packages with some added design elements. In practice however, the civil engineering professional is required to work in a holistic design environment encompassing an 'in situ' and realistic analysis of the project context..."

Tech Tip Tutorial - Multiple Plan Regions

This Tech Tip explains how to create multiple plan regions in a Sheet File. In versions of Civil Designer prior to the 2015 version, a Sheet File could only contain 1 plan region. In the 2015 version, the Sheet File's plan region can accommodate multiple plan regions. Read this tech tip here.

AECOM for urban development and infrastructure

Civil Designer is currently being used for the Rehabilitation of Trunk Road 31, from Ashton to Montagu through Cogmanskloof. The project is set in mountainous terrain and includes re-alignment, multiple intersections, road widening with occasional rest areas and 1.5m wide pedestrain walkways. "Civil Designer's functionality is enabling us to handle the rehabilitation design work with efficiency and success," explains Carlos Dos Santos of AECOM's Transportation Division.

Your CAD Requirements
If you use Civil Designer it makes more sense to use AllyCAD to complete your production drawing. Most third party packages do not support southern hemisphere coordinates, are very expensive to purchase and maintain and do not enjoy the level of back up and support which is provided with your AllyCAD and Civil Designer purchase.

Find out more about AllyCAD at www.allycad.com and contact us if you would like to know more about the advantages of integrating the full AllyCAD platform into your existing suite of software.
