Bay West Mall Development

Bay West Mall development

The Bay West Mall development in Port Elizabeth (covering a Gross Leasable Area of 90,000 m²) involved the use of Civil Designer for extensive earthworks and platform creation along with the design of all internal access roads, parking areas and yards.

Hannes Kotze, Director at KLS Consulting Engineers explains that "the large scale project involved 105,000 m³ cut to fill Bulk earthworks. The earthwork volumes were handled so as to include the secondary hard material surface to calculate the volumes. This involved 45,000 m³ of Hard rock entered into Civil Designer as a separate hard rock surface. The design also included 3,500 parking bays of which 50% were covered."
