Civil Designer
Infrastructure Design

Civil Designer 2014 is here!!

Civil Designer 2014 sets new standards and shows consulting engineers what an infrastructure design package should actually be all about! The latest version brings some impressive enhancements with a strong focus on Roads and Bulk Earthworks design. We have also strengthened our Stormwater, Sewer and Water modules keeping them way ahead of the competition.

The software will give you the fastest urban road design program in the industry including intersections and traffic circles! Our head programmer designed 40 intersections in just 1 hour! Now that is impressive!

Download it now: Civil Designer 2014 has been released and is downloadable at If you are unable to download the file, then let us know and we can try and organise a DVD to be sent to you. Only those whose Subscriptions are up to date till 1st July will be able to authorise and use this latest version!

More information about what is new in Civil Designer 2014 will be mentioned in coming newsletters.

  • Intersections can now be modelled within seconds.
  • Our intersection wizard has default South African standards built into it, thus ensuring it's not just any 3D model but a 3D model that meets the South African Engineering expectations.
  • Once a typical intersection has been created using the Civil Designer wizard, the setting can be saved and applied within seconds to other new intersections.
  • With the plot generate routine, a plan layout with setting out details can be produced, within seconds.
  • An existing modelled intersection can be edited using our wizard and changes are applied quick and easily.
  • The general time spent on an intersection, from "start" to "contractors setting-out drawing" is 3 minutes!
The Roads Strings course will be covered over a single day only for clients that are already familiar with our 2011 / 2013 version and have been for training for the Roads module. For clients that have not been on our Roads training for these later versions, you will need to come on the full 2 day Roads course.

GIBB IIG Standardizes on Civil Designer after assessing all other software

Our Civil Designer 2014 version was tested against all other competitor software packages in an intense showdown for GIBB. We not only completed the tests that GIBB requested, but also decided to show GIBB what our software is really capable of. We were able to demonstrate industry leading design functionality that they did not realise was possible within the scope of a civil infrastructure design software package.

DTI grant for BEE companies

The Department of Trade and Industry will soon be open to receive grant applications towards software costs. The DTI offers up to 90% off the cost of your software. This is offered to all enterprises that are majority black-owned in South Africa. The maximum grant amount you can qualify for is a R100 000 towards the procurement of CIVIL DESIGNER and AllyCAD. Additionally you can get a grant for training on the software for up to R15 000 (ex vat) per individual. While the process can take between 2 weeks up to 4 months, depending on numerous factors, we are able to lease the software out to you in that period so you can get immediate access at little cost. To qualify for this incredible opportunity your company will need to meet various requirements.

Feature Focus

DESIGN CENTRE - Super Fast import of 4 million DTM points per minute
Civil Designer will easily handle 95 million points and more and can import 4 million DTM points in under a minute. The software can further triangulate 6 million points in under a minute. There are very few design systems that can come close to matching this speed! In addition we have an intelligent LIDAR import function that will extract a useable DTM from millions of LIDAR points.

SURVEY & TERRAIN - Cut / Fill Terrace Optimization to Minimize Costs
The volume of a terrace can be calculated in seconds. Cut and fill volumes can be balanced with the optimization function to the percentage that you require. You can even manipulate an individual terrace on a multi-terrace site. Design more cost effectively by calculating the volumes and optimizing costs before projects are built.
