Intersections with Super-elevation Transition

We recently received a request for a demonstration of how to create an intersection onto a main road at the location of a super-elevation development. In CIVIL DESIGNER this can be efficiently achieved, as demonstrated in the video below, with the following steps:
  • Find and mark the location of the super development
  • Draw the minor road's centre line in CAD and convert to a road
  • Extract the alignments from CAD entities
  • Create the intersection
  • Inspect the intersection drainage
  • Create the intersection setting-out construction drawing

Road Rehabilitation

CIVIL DESIGNER's ROAD module allows a logical and efficient process for your road rehabilitation design work. The video demonstrates the process as per the steps below:
  • Extract existing road from survey and cad entities
  • Extract the offset and elevation of the existing road edges
  • Add proposed road widening from CAD entities
  • Widen the road to the proposed edges at the existing crossfall
  • Extract the layerwork limits of the new widening from CAD entities

Feature Focus - Importing Obj files

CIVIL DESIGNER 8.1 allows you to import obj files into your model. This provides additional resources for your design model. To import an obj file select File - Import - Import 3D Model.

Client Testimonials

V3 Consulting Engineers Gustaf van Aardt Pr Tech Eng of V3 Consulting Engineers  recently tackled the upgrading of the R63 section 13 between Fort Beaufort and Alice and is currently busy with the intermodal Interchange at Ndabakazi Intersection on the N2 section 17 using CIVIL DESIGNER.

"Having switched to CIVIL DESIGNER after using alternative software for the last 5 years I was struck with the time saving and productivity I achieved. Sometimes I estimate this to be as much as 50% faster to get to the point of plan production. CIVIL DESIGNER works well and the service is top class."

Windhoek Consulting Engineers Following CIVIL DESIGNER training earlier this month, Heiko Fleidl of Windhoek Consulting Engineers explains: "I'm a Road Engineer in the Transport Department of WCE and mainly use Civil Designer for road and storm water designs. I have recently also used the software for sewer and water reticulation designs. It can really be deemed the complete package as you can do anything and everything related to Civil Engineering. Even the integration with other CAD software is seamless. Other similar design software still has a long way to go to catch up with Civil Designer's capabilities and functions."

Partners in Development Jon Kirkman of PID Consulting Engineers  recently completed a feasibility study for the dredging of Camps Drift Canal. CIVIL DESIGNER's Survey & Terrain module was used to generate an 'ideal' canal tache surface from 'as is' Lidar survey and to generate a worst case scenario for flooding. "We were able to determine the volume of silt in the canal by finding the volume difference between actual and ideal tache surfaces. The support services we have experienced while using CIVIL DESIGNER have been excellent."
