SETA ACCREDITATION

Knowledge Base Training has recently been awarded Accreditation by the ISETT SETA.

In terms of the ETQA Regulations Number R1127 of 1998, the Sector Education and Training Authority, ISETT SETA is responsible for passing accreditation to companies that fall within their primary focus.

Since our core business falls within the scope of information systems (software), electronics and telecommunications technologies, Knowledge Base was passed by this SETA and has received accreditation.

ADDRESSING THE SA SKILLS SHORTAGE

The Knowledge Base Recruitment Centre is now in a position to assist foreign candidates with the acquisition of work permits through a qualified Immigration Officer and in association with the Department of Home Affairs.

Non South African Civil Engineers and design staff will now be able to offer their services to South African Civil Engineering consulting firms for short to long term assignments. This initiative will attempt to address the South African skills shortage presently experienced in the industry.

VERSATILE STRINGS

The Strings functionality in Civil Designer 6.4 has been created to be both dynamic and versatile in its operation. Strings can be used to design complicated terraces like side drain benching and graded surfaces. It is therefore ideal for designing parking areas, curved dam walls, berms and channels with complicated benching.

GRADED PARKING AREA

The dynamic character of Strings means that a change to the master string is reflected and updated in the child String. This is due to the hierarchical nature of Strings which allows a designer to change his design by simply moving a corner of the terrace, grading a string or surface, or moving the entire terrace without having to regenerate all the affected Strings. The affected Strings and toe-points will then automatically be re-calculated in a matter of seconds.

You can create a triangulated DTM surface from a series of Strings by simply running the String to DTM function. The DTM functionality in Civil Designer allows you to calculate quantities, create a contour plan and generate a 3D view. You can also modify a newly created String from both the plan and long section views quickly and with minimum effort.

Strings help you to speed up the design process so that you will be able to do so much more than before.

Geometry Lines
 

Geometry consists of construction lines and circles. These can be used as guide lines which can be traced over using the Geometry Trace-Over functions. This allows the user to determine the positions of points, line and arc intersection points and the projection of existing lines to another part of the drawing.
