SWMM, which will soon be released in Civil Designer's Storm module, provides an integrated environment for editing study area input data, running hydrologic, hydraulic and water quality simulations, and viewing the results in a variety of formats. SWMM contains a flexible set of hydraulic modeling capabilities used to route runoff and

external inflows through the drainage system network of pipes, channels, storage/treatment units and diversion structures. The model also estimates the production of pollutant loads associated with this runoff. SWMM conceptualizes a drainage system as a series of water and material flows between several major environmental compartments including the atmosphere compartment, the land surface compartment, the groundwater compartment and the transport compartment.

Registration has opened for the 71st Annual Conference of the Institute of Municipal Engineering of Southern Africa (IMESA), widely recognised as the industry's most important event of the year. The conference will take place later this year at the International Convention Centre in Durban, covering presentations of practical and technical content that will stimulate the interest of all disciplines involved in the entire engineering industry.

Knowledge Base will be exhibiting their Civil Designer and AllyCAD software at this year's event and look forward to connecting with municipal engineers and professionals at the conference.
