CHECKING FOR BLIND RISES & CLIMBING LANE PLACEMENT

The powerful Roads module in Civil Designer allows you to calculate the areas along the road alignment where the driver cannot see the specified object over a specified minimum site distance.

Once you have completed your road design, the program will perform this calculation in a matter of seconds allowing you to check for blind rises and the placement of climbing lanes.

The program automatically performs sight distance checking in both horizontal and vertical planes and will use the batter cross sections for sight checking. If the offset of the toe points are less than the specified road reserve, then the program will include ground points beyond the toe point and up to the road reserve width when doing sight distance checking.

The distance from the driver to the object will always be measured along the horizontal alignment while the sight line from the driver to the object will be taken as a straight line. With the three dimensional iteration in Civil Designer, checking Site Distances is quick, easy and effortless.

Creating Sheet Files
 

This Tech Tip explains how to create and modify sheet files. There are various ways to create a new sheet file in CIVIL DESIGNER. The Sheet File Editor (SFE) is available on the Plot menu. You can easily modify one of the sheet files that are shipped with CIVIL DESIGNER.
