SAICE Water Network Competition |

The annual SAICE Water Network Competition is aimed at encouraging learners at school level to follow a career in civil engineering. The competition strengthens government initiatives aimed at persuading learners to take Maths and Science as school subjects.
|
Learners are split in teams and are tasked to design a model water distribution network in order to distribute three litres of water equally between three points on the grid using two different pipe diameters. They are then judged on how well they execute the task. They are allowed three tries in a period of about an hour. Knowledge Base will be supporting the 2008 competition alongside Rand Water and SAICE and promoting the initiative to all schools nationally. THE WATER MODULE
|
The Water module provides full analysis and extended time simulation of fluid handling networks which include
pipes with valves, reservoirs and pump stations. Pipe sizing is calculated by simulated annealing methodology.
The program includes fully editable pipe and pump catalogues, the means to link external data tables such as consumption and tariff details,
hydraulic and pressure contour plotting, plans and long sections, crossing services and clash analysis functionality.
Results can be displayed graphically, in tables or on time-based curves.
The program also provides SABS1200 quantities including excavation, bedding and backfill volumes.
