New Joint ICE-SAICE Division |

The International Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE) held a meeting on 22 March 2007 in order to discuss the establishment of a new Joint ICE-SAICE Division with the combined vision of encouraging innovation and excellence in the civil engineering profession.
|
Knowledge Base attended the inaugural meeting as an industry partner in order to lend support to the newly formed division. The alliance aims to facilitate industry activities that are of mutual interest to both ICE and SAICE, with particular emphasis on matters that are of international concern. ANALYSIS OF TERRAIN SURFACES AND EARTHWORKS
 |
Civil Designer provides a powerful planning tool to help with the analysis of terrain surfaces and earthworks. The program's powerful Terrain module has a virtually unlimited model size with 128 surfaces, and its graphical user interface makes modifying, analyzing and inspecting of ground data intuitive.

The user can also model 3D views of preliminary earthworks, making it easier to understand proposed landform changes whilst providing detailed quantitative information for economic evaluations.
Civil Designer enables rapid feasibility assessments of design components such as roadway preliminary designs, the validation of grading and terracing solutions, and also assists with the illustration of conceptual design ideas to clients using the multitude of graphical outputs within the software. The DTM generation enables all preliminary and detailed land development tasks, particularly useful for understanding complex landforms.
