The Young Professionals Forum (YPF) started approximately a year ago and has a growing membership base of over 500 members.

Membership to the Forum is open to all Young Professionals in the Built Environment, under 35 years of age. Knowledge Base is currently an industry partner to the YPF and supports the organisation's efforts to promote Engineering initiatives to young professionals in South Africa. SEWER FUNCTIONALITY IN 6.4

The Sewer module in Civil Designer 6.4. makes provision for erf connection functionality. You can now graphically insert erf connections using the familiar Sewer interface while the program automatically indicates the lowest point on each erf. To enter the erf connections, select the "Graphical - Add Erf Connection" option. You can use any of the snap modes to indicate the position of the new erf connection. Erf Connections settings allow you to define the pen, line width and line type for the erf connection, the text pen, text size in points and text placement settings for the erf connection annotations, as well as which annotations must be displayed.

The Erf connection database can then be analysed to report results and warn you where erf-connections are unable to drain to the main line. You can alter the sewer network graphically in the Vertical Alignment while the erf connections are displayed. Erf connections can also be displayed on the plan layout and Long section drawings.

Erf Connections are calculated according to the parameters specified in the Erf Connection Data and Erf Connection types dialogs. Here you can edit erf connections, erf details, view link details and the results summary by selecting the "Edit - Erf Connection data" or by using the "Graphical - Edit Erf Connection" to edit the connection. To display the results of your erf connections, go to the View Erf Connections option.

The Sewer Erf Connection and Design module in Civil Designer allows you to check that all your erven or residential properties will be able to drain successfully to your designed Sewer network. The program will calculate the maximum or highest allowable invert level of the sewer at the connection point and the required minimum invert level of the erf or property connection according to the specified design perameters in a matter of seconds. And because the design is controlled by a number of parameters that you set, the facility enables tailor made designs according to your own requirements or that of the local authorities or councils. We are pleased to announce that the latest Sewer version offers top-class functionality like never before!
