AID
The
Tsunami
crisis
on 26
December
2004
caused
large-scale
destruction
never
seen
in the
history
of
natural
disasters.
Many
countries
in the
North
Indian
Oceans
were
affected,
leaving
hundreds
of
thousands
of
families
without
food,
shelter
and
clothing.
Towns
and
villages
they
called
home
were
erased
from
the
map.
After
liaising
with
the
Tsunami
Global
Relief
co-ordinators
in
Johannesburg,
we
have
decided
to
offer
our
assistance
to the
South
African
Engineers
who
have
volunteered
their
services
and
expertise
in the
infrastructural
rehabilitation
and
redevelopment
of
affected
countries.
We
have
targeted
over a
million
rands
worth
of
support
that
we
would
like
to
contribute
to
Tsunami
Relief.
After
years
of
developing
Civil
Designer
and
AllyCAD,
both
world-class
packages
used
by
thousands
of
valued
clients
around
the
globe,
we are
very
pleased
to be
offering
our
software
at no
charge
to
assist
with
the
reconstruction
process.
Our
decision
to
supply
completely
integrated
Civil
Engineering
software
will
be
backed
by our
Support
Centre
who
will
assist
the
Tsunami
Relief
Project
Engineers
to
resolve
software
related
queries
and
also
assist
in
technical
problem
solving.
In
this
way
our
qualified
and
highly
skilled
professionals
will
work
alongside
the
Tsunami
Engineering
team
to
resolve
critical
issues,
but
will
operate
from
our
offices
in
South
Africa.

In
today’s
newsletter
we
take a
closer
look
at
Sheet
Files.
Sheet
files
or
sheet
file
templates
define
the
layout
of the
generated
drawing.
The
precise
position
and
attributes
of the
title
block
and
other
entities
are
defined
in the
template.
The
Plot
Expert
therefore
takes
all
the
hassle
out of
creating
final
drawings.
You no
longer
have
to cut
and
paste
your
design
into
your
title
block
as the
use of
flexible
Sheet
Files
will
allow
for
the
exact
placement
of all
the
design
elements
in
your
title
block.

The
Sheet
Template
Editor
is
divided
into 5
pages.
The
first
page
contains
data,
which
defines
the
global
or
overall
layout
of the
sheet.
The
next 3
pages,
Plan,
Cross
Section
and
Long
Section,
each
contain
the
data
to
define
the
layout
of
that
type
of
drawing.
The
sheet
file
can be
viewed
graphically
at any
stage
by
simply
changing
to the
[Preview]
page.
You
can
set up
your
choice
of
sheet
file
whether
it be
a Plan
view,
a Long
Section,
Cross
Section
or
even a
combination
of all
three
contract
drawings.
The
survey
setting
out
information
can
then
be
tabulated
in a
user-defined
format
and be
plotted
in the
precise
position
on the
contract
drawing.
A
company’s
contract
drawings
may be
standardized
across
all
its
offices
by
using
a
specified
sheet
file.
In
addition
to
this,
the
company
logo
in
bitmap
image
may be
placed
in the
desired
position
on the
contract
drawing.
The
use of
Sheet
Files
will
save
you
loads
of
time
and
will
standardize
your
presentation
for
greater
professionalism.
