STORMWATER NETWORKS IN CIVIL DESIGNER

Some interesting facts that many of you may not be aware of:

 

Designing a Stormwater network in Civil Designer is one of the most hassle free experiences you’ll ever have. You simply indicate the layout of the network and then specify the runoff data according to the Rational or Illudas runoff calculation method. Runoff may also be modelled using Inflow Hydrographs.

Once you have specified the range of design parameters, the program will design the network automatically according to these parameters when you run the analysis. The Runoffs, flows, capacities, overflows, storage, velocities, flow depths and hydraulic grade line are calculated using hydraulic calculations.

 

The analysis and design function uses a state of the art iterative design algorithm to:

1. Select the most suitable pipe/culvert size from the user defined Link tables to accommodate the runoff;

2. Automatic calculate invert levels for each node according to the following user defined design criteria:

• minimum cover and manhole conditions

• minimum and maximum velocity

• minimum and maximum slopes specified in the Link tables;

3. Automatically check the network for possible clashes with other services such as sewer and water reticulation networks.

With Civil Designer, you no longer have to calculate culvert sizes, invert levels or pipe slopes through a manual iterative process since the program automatically performs these calculations in a matter of seconds. You can therefore design a complete stormwater network with the confidence and assurance afforded when working in a seamless integrated environment.
