NEW EMPLOYER SERVICE

The Recruitment website ensures strict confidentiality in order to protect the candidate's privacy. The candidate information for public viewing on the website includes a short summary of their skills as well as the qualifications that have been obtained. TERRACE VOLUMES

The digital terrain modeling module in Civil Designer allows for interactive earthworks design and calculations. This module incorporates more complex survey calculations, error figures and control surveys and handles Terrain Modeling and Terrace Design with ease.

Once you have identified your terrace (with or without banks), a DTM grid is run across it and the cut-and-fill volumes are determined. If the cut-and-fill quantities do not balance, the program allows you to adjust the terrace quickly and with minimum effort. The figures for compaction and topsoil stripping can now be incorporated and a final figure is presented. The results are presented in the Output window.

In projects that consist of a large number of terraces, it is advisable to try and reduce the number of individual platforms by connecting adjacent terraces with extra design lines between them. This intervening area can then be treated as earthwork shaping and may be considered as part of a single larger terrace. The larger each perimeter, the easier and the less work there will be to balance the earthworks.

The terrace volume calculation functions outputs details of the volumes in depth ranges. You can calculate the volumes by depth range by using either the Band method of calculation or the Prism method of calculation. The Band method subdivides the calculated volume for a particular depth into the various depth bands consisting of the actual cut or fill depth and all the preceding bands. This is in accordance with the SABS 1200 method of volume calculation. The Prism method on the other hand, assigns the entire calculated volume for a particular depth to the depth band of the actual cut or fill depth.

The relationship between Band and Prism calculations is an interesting one in that the volume for any depth range calculated by the Prism method is equal to the sum of the volume for that depth range as well as all the preceding ranges when calculated by the Band method. The choice of calculation will merely change the way that the volume calculation is reported and results in the same overall cut and fill volumes for each method. Volumes can then be reported in either SABS 1200 or COLTO format for specified depth categories, top soil stripping and compaction or bulking factors.

This heavy weight module can handle any bulk earthworks application and there is no limit to the programs functionality. It handles anything from survey calculations, terrain modeling, terrace design, pipe long section generation and three dimensional viewing quickly and effectively.
