Civil Designer 6.5 |

Civil Designer's 6.5 version will be released to clients in the next two months and features
significant module enhancements. These enhancements, among others, include the ability to view
kerbs in cross section and calculate kerb quantities in the Roads module, the exporting of dam
volume results to stormwater reservoir files in the Survey & Terrain module, SWMM, a pipe/pump
catalogue updater in the Water module and a new auto tracking algorithm for area calculations and
complex hatches in the CAD module. Contact our Customer Support Centre for further information.

Generating Child Strings
 |
Civil Designer allows you to create a second 'child' string at a horizontal and vertical offset from the original. Alternatively, it can extend down to a DTM surface at a certain grade.
In the upcoming 6.5 version a child string can also be added at a given height with varying slopes from its parent string. It then 'belongs' to the original string in a hierarchical way.

To create a child string, simply select 'Strings / String Creation / Create Child'. The default dialog box can now be edited accordingly. You can also edit the relationship between the string and its parent by using the 'Range Editing' option in the Range Edit dialog box. Once you have entered all your details simply convert the strings to DTM points so that it can be viewed in a 3D format.
