THE WATER MODULE IN CIVIL
DESIGNER
Our versatile water module
supports up to eight pumps in each
pump station. Operation of each of
these can be set by various active
controls. These controls include
the pressure control, the
reservoir level control, time
control, delayed start or
long-term day system (365 days).
Under pressure control, the pump
can be set to operate between two
specified values. Reservoir level
control works in a similar
fashion, but is linked to the
level in certain reservoirs
instead of in the node pressure.
In addition, time control can
start and stop the pump in up to
three times a day.
The delayed start control operates
in conjunction with any of the
previous controls. Once the pump
has been stopped by one of the
above-mentioned specified values,
the program will start the pump in
the specified time as set in delay
start. All the controls can be
used simultaneously. Time control
will however be applied first in
the sequence.
The reservoir level control can
override a time control as the
program assumes that maintaining
the correct level in the reservoir
is more important than the
operation schedule. The pressure
control holds the highest priority
as too low a pressure can
interrupt water supply while too
high a pressure can cause damage
to the equipment.

How to import geographical
coordinates into Civil Designer.
This Tech Tip explains how to
import geographical coordinates
into Civil Designer. Data files of
points are sometimes supplied in
the form of geographical
coordinates. There is an existing
function (Geo Topo) for importing
geographical coordinates but that
function expects a particular file
format as generated by GPS
processing software. This function
imports data files in fixed column
or delimited format with the
Latitude and Longitude values
being either in decimal degrees or
in D.MMSS format.
