Duplicating a DTM Surface & Applying a Height Constant

This Tech Tip explains how to duplicate a DTM surface and apply a height constant to the duplicated surface.

Survey Mode

Editing Menu › Duplicate Surface

Select the surface you want to duplicate (Process Surface) and the surface you want to copy the points to (Destination Surface)

Once the surfaces are selected click OK to continue.

If points exist on the Destination Surface, the following dialog will appear:

Click OK to delete the points in the surface or Cancel to end the function.

Once the surface has been duplicated, a height constant can be added to the new surface.

Editing Menu › Height Constants

A constant can be added to the heights on the surface, or the heights can be modified by a constant using the Multiplication option. If you want to subtract a value from the heights, you can add a negative value.

The constant can be added to a certain section of a surface, by defining a polyfence and then using the Use fence option.

Click OK to continue.

The standard Point Filter dialog will appear

The constant can be applied either to specific points on the surface, to a specific surface only, or to all the surfaces in the DTM.

If the Output Window is shown, the previous levels and new levels will be listed

To show the Output Window:

Windows Menu › Toggle Output Window
