Pavement Layer Designer
In Roads Mode, Tools Menu › Template Editor

Scroll to the LLayers tab. Right click in the table
below Layer Description.

A menu will appear, select Pavement Designer. In this dialog you can create various Pavement libraries
containing several manually defined pavement designs.
These files can then be used throughout an
organization. The pavement symbol, as indicated on the
dialog, can be automatically generated on Cross
Section plots. The symbols for each material type is
specified in a CAD symbol file called PAVEMENT
SYMBOLS.DRG in the Symbols sub directory.

Pavement File Name (...) |
Press
this to display a File Open dialog. Use this
dialog to open an existing Pavement file, or
simply type in a new name to create a new
Pavement file. A Pavement file can contain
several pavement designs. |

Pavement |
All the
Pavement designs that are contained in the
selected Pavement file will be listed in this
combo-box. The selected pavement design will be
displayed in the display area. |

New Pavement |
Press
this button to add a new pavement design to the
selected pavement file. You will be asked for a
Pavement Name, which will be listed in the
Pavement combo-box. The newly inserted, blank
pavement design will automatically be selected.

Delete Pavement |
Press
this button to delete the selected pavement
design. |

Add Layer |
Press
this button to add a pavement layer to the
selected pavement design. The Add Layer dialog
will be displayed. The new pavement layer will
be added on top of the existing layers. |

Edit Layer |
Press
this button to edit the properties of an
existing pavement layer. You will be prompted to
"Indicate Layer to Edit". Click on the desired
layer to display the Edit Layer Dialog layer. |

Delete Layer |
Press
this button to delete a layer from the selected
pavement design. You will be prompted: "Indicate
Layer to delete". Click on the desired layer to
delete it. |

Save As |
Press
this button to save the selected Pavement file
to another file. |

OK |
Press OK
to save the changes to the selected pavement
file. The layers in the selected pavement design
will be placed in the LLayers or RLayers tabs of
the Template Editor. |

Cancel |
Press
Cancel to close the dialog without saving the
changes or altering the Template Editor. |
There are sample pavement designs included
with Civil Designer, these can be opened via the
Pavement Designer.
Click on the button as shown below.

The file open dialog will appear.

The sample pavement designs are stored in the
c:\civdes63\examples\pavement designs (the open dialog
should automatically open in this folder).
The sample pavement designs can be edited using the
tools provided. This tool also allows the user to
create new pavement designs.
Creating a new Pavement Design
Click on the open button as shown above, in the File
name area type the new name of the pavement design.

Click on Open to continue.
The following dialog will appear:

Click Yes to continue.
The Pavement Designer will open, the new pavement can
now be created.

Click on the New Pavement button. Enter the name of the new
pavement.

Once the new pavement has a name, layers can be added by clicking on
the Add Layer button. The layers must be added
as they would be constructed i.e. bottom to top.

Clicking on the drop down arrow for Material lists materials that can
be used.

Once the layer has been added, the symbol will be shown in the Pavement
Designer.

As each layer is added, the profile will be updated. Remarks can also
be added for each layer.

Once the pavement is complete, click on the Save As button.
Additional pavements can be added to the pavement
file, by clicking on the New Pavement button.
Click OK and the new pavement details will be
copied into the road template.
