Inserting Skew Cross Section

Civil Designer has the ability to insert skew cross sections into a road project. By default all cross sections are extracted at 90 degrees to the road centre line, but it is quite easy to specify that a specific cross section must be at a skew angle.

Make sure you are in Roads Mode.

Tools Menu › Index › Edit Chainage Record

In the above dialog the user can specify the skew angle at which cross sections should be extracted for this chainage record. Enter a positive value for clock-wise rotation and a negative value for anti-clockwise rotation.

Clicking on the Previous chainage and Next chainage buttons allows the user to progress through the chainage records, once all the changes have been made, click on the save button and then close. Going through the chainage records will only list the chainages in the roads file, if additional chainages are required in the road, then these need to be added to the road.

In this example, there is a skew section at chainage 30.

Extract cross section etc as per normal. With the road plan show, the skew cross sections can also be labelled.

Civil Designer also has the ability to plot only the skew cross sections.

To plot only the skew cross sections

Click next to continue.

On the next screen that appears, select to only plot skew cross sections.

Click [Finish] to generate a plot of the skew cross sections.
