Vertical Alignment Editing (updated in version 6.5)

This Tech Tip explains the new features added to the Vertical Alignment function in the Water Module.

Depth guide lines

Before using the function the pipes you want to edit need to be selected.

Graphs Menu › Vertical Alignment

The selected pipes will appear in the vertical alignment view.

To show the depth lines click on the Depth Lines Settings button.

The following dialog will appear:

Four lines, parallel to the ground level, are displayed on the longitudinal section, to assist users in graphical editing. Line depths and colours are user selectable. Click on the colour area to change the colour of the lines drawn on the long section. The palette will appear, and a different colour can be selected.

The new colours will be shown in the dialog.

Lines from the Minimum Cover group relate to distance between ground line and top of the pipe, while lines from the Maximum Depth group relate to depth to the pipe invert. Checking the Enforce button will restrict alignment point placement so that selected cover or depth are maintained.

Textual Editing

Alignment point properties can now be edited in textual format, so it is possible to set exact chainage, invert level, cover or depth for any point. Of course, for points that are also part of a horizontal alignment chainage cannot be altered, therefore the chainage field for these points is greyed out.

Points are selected for editing using a graphical function activated by a top button on the toolbar. Graphical Insert and Move cad also perform selection, allowing fine adjustments in textual mode after executing a graphical function. The Selected point is marked by a red arrow, just above the ground line.
