Adding Areas to plotted Cross Sections

The standard cross section sheet file provided with Civil Designer does not plot the Cut/Fill areas. This Tech Tip will explain how to edit the sheet file to include these areas.

ROADS MODE

Plot Menu › Generate

Select the cross section.sht file, which can be found in the following folder c:\civdes64\examples\sheetfiles

Click Open to open the file.

Then click on the Sheet File Editor to open the sheetfile in the Sheet File Editor.

Click on the Cross Section tab on top, and Labels tab on the bottom.

Right click with the mouse in a open area in the Text column, from the list select {CUTAREA(2).3} - Cut quantity

The next step is to indicate where on the cross section the areas will be displayed.

Available Coordinate Variables:

{L} The left edge of the section.
{R} The right edge of the section.
{T} The top edge of the section.
{B} The bottom edge of the section.

Once the changes have been made, click on the Preview tab to view the changes.

If you are happy with the changes, click Save As, save the file with a different name to the original sheet file, so you always have the original as a backup.
