Plot 3D
This function is used to produce a 3 dimensional view of the site, using either the line model or dtm grid data. Either was a single surface grid must exist prior to using Plot 3D.
The program generates a full perspective view with two vanishing points, this is not an isometric view.
Generating the single surface grid
Make sure the entire site is visible before generating the grid, ZA (Zoom All) to have the entire site shown on screen.
Terrain Mode
Terrain Menu › DTM Grid Volumes

Select the first option Grid over a single surface, the click Next to continue.

Select the surface you want to grid, we will select Surface 1, our ground dtm, click Next to continue.

Select a grid interval, this will vary depending on the size of the site, click Next to continue.

Enter a Search Hole Distance of 30, you can gage this by doing a graphical join between dtm points to obtain a global average. Click Next to continue, the grid will be generated. If any gaps appear in the grid, then the search distance specified is too small.
Generating 3D plot showing DTM Lines
This function will produce a 3 dimensional view as a drawing.
Terrain Menu › 3D View › Plot 3D

Under Type select Lines option to extract the 3D Plot from the dtm line information. The Horizontal view angle is the direction from which the site will be viewed. The Vertical view angle is the deflection or tilt of the model relative to the horizontal. This angle may range from 0 degrees (worm's eye view) to 90 degrees (birds eye view). Help on the other options on this dialog can be viewed by pressing F1.
Click OK to continue.
A new CAD windows is opened and the drawing is plotted.

The drawing may now be saved as an AllyCAD drawing, AutoCAD dwg or dwf, or Caddie CEX.
